NEW signs have gone up to clearly indicate that no motor vehicles should be using Walton Street in Oxford.
The route was closed earlier this year for resurfacing and the county council then decided to keep it closed on a trial basis and is consulting the public on the proposal.
While the signs show the road is closed some motorcyclists appear to be ignoring the restriction and have been seen squeezing through the coned off street in both directions at the junction with Worcester Street.
Last month the council said: “The formal consultation will run for six months during which time If problems are identified then we could abandon or alter the restriction in place.
“Any decision to make the closure permanent would be taken by the cabinet member for transport Yvonne Constance at a public meeting."

The maximum duration the trial will be in place for is 18 months.
