So James Styring would like the council to provide and fund training for adult cyclists (Oxford Mail, October 29).
Why do cyclists have the idea that everything should be done for them with no cost to themselves?
Unlike the driver or motorcyclist, who have to fund their own lessons, they take no test. They have their own little part of the road, but pay no road fund licence.
Although advised to, they are not legally obliged to wear a helmet (unlike the motorcyclist) or reflective clothing, both of which would be of a great safety benefit. I won't get into bikes with no lights (the flashing reflectors are not lights) or the blindness to red traffic lights!
Come on cyclists, you get everything else done for you.
Surely you can try and do a little towards your own safety?
