A BRANCH of volunteer life savers is being established in a town in Oxfordshire by St John Ambulance.
The health charity is forming a new unit in Bicester for adults who will provide first aid cover at public events in the local area.
They will receive free training in life saving skills, giving them the confidence to do the right thing should there be a medical emergency in the community.
No previous experience is required, and anyone interested can find out more at a series of open evenings being held at the charity’s base on Ashdene Road, Bicester.

Current volunteers will be on hand to chat through volunteering opportunities at the new unit, from becoming a first aider, to fundraising and administration or volunteer support.
They are also keen to hear from healthcare professionals who may like to get involved.
Volunteer Darren Howes said: ‘We hope there are many people living in and around Bicester who would be interested in learning to save lives and to volunteer with St John Ambulance. Of course, those first aid skills aren’t just used when the volunteers are at events. Learning first aid means they’re equipped to help family and friends at home, work, or anywhere else where an emergency happens.’
The open evenings are between 7.30pm and 9.30pm today and on November 20, 27 and December 4 and 11.
