If you need help getting into the Christmas spirit, join crowds in the annual city-wide Oxford Lights Festival.
This year, the festival's theme is 'Discovery', inspired by science and the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
The celebrations, running from November 15 to 17, will open this Friday at 6.30pm with the majestic lantern parade that starts at the Covered Market.

The main events and installations can be found on Broad Street, Gloucester Green and Bonn Square but make sure to plan ahead as 40,000 people flooded the city centre last year to grab the best viewing spots.
The extravaganza will include light and sound installations, a festive street market filled with delicious winter treats, outdoor exhibitions, carolling and dances.
Highlights include the Ghost Caribou - a night-time street act, which features giant illuminated creatures - part animal and part spirit, a new interactive light installation by artist Jack Wimperis, and a vibrant music stage on Broad Street.

Some of the city's most iconic buildings are also joining the festival, like the Pitt Rivers and the Museum of Natural History which are hosting a magical Friday night filled with tours, talks, activities, music and dances.
Much of the events run outside and are free of charge, unless otherwise stated.
