A POPULAR Oxford site turned 245 years old on Friday.
The Covered Market opened on November, 1 1774 and has seen millions of people trade, browse and shop .
The site on Market Street, is home to independent businesses, some of which sell bespoke and handmade goods.

Oxford City Council held a competition for residents to write a piece of spoken-word, poetry or music that tells their story of Oxford's Covered Market.
The winner would have their work installed in a new listening post on the site and win £150 in vouchers to spend in a participating Covered Market shop of your choice.
Entry to the competition closes tonight at midnight.
