A DRUG dealer who was spared jail has been given another chance after breaching his order for a second time and failing to turn up for unpaid work.
At Oxford Crown Court yesterday it was revealed that Lewis Collins didn’t turn up for the work because he was working instead at Pinewood Studios.
Collins, of Wolage Drive, Wantage, was sentenced in April last year for being concerned in the supply of cocaine and supplying cannabis in 2017.
The 20-year-old was handed a two-year jail term suspended for two years and ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and complete a drug rehabilitation requirement.
The court heard yesterday that he had breached his order for a second time by failing to attend unpaid work on April 24 this year and failing to provide evidence for that breach.
His defence barrister Robert Lindsey said that his client, who worked as a hod carrier had been at the famed British film and television studio that day working.
The court also heard that Collins had ‘generally complied quite well’ with the order and had completed 146 hours of the required total so far.
Sentencing, Judge Ian Pringle QC said: “This is the second breach of your order and the normal procedure is if that happens the sentence is implemented.
“However you have clearly done well with your drug rehabilitation requirement, you have completed the majority of this work, three quarters.
“I have got to mark the breach in some way so I will have to give you a fine.”
Collins was fined £300 and the existing order will continue until April 2020.
