AN ELECTRIC Thames Valley Police car has been spotted in Oxford city centre.
The car is a BMW i3 and was seen parked-up outside the Westgate Centre on Queen Street.
It is the force's demo car and has been used for two weeks. It is being trialled by the Neighbourhood Policing team, but as a response car.
Currently electric cars are not suitable for response work due to their battery capacity and the capability of the vehicle.
Officers will provide feedback on the practicality of the vehicle.

Oxford local policing area was chosen for a trial as the council is aiming to lower carbon emissions in the city within the next few years and the force says that the use of electric cars is one way to do this.
