THE city council is expected to confirm that it will allow Oxford United to take over the management of Oxford Sports Park. 

Its cabinet discussed handing over the lease of the £4.9m facility to the club last night but did so in secret because its discussion would have revealed secret financial details.

Officers said last night that an announcement about the exact details of what the cabinet agreed will be released later today.

The sports park in Horspath is currently managed by Fusion, which runs the council’s other leisure facilities, including its leisure centres and Oxford Ice Rink.
