ROBBERS threatened a shop worker before 'climbing over the counter' and stealing two tills. 

Thames Valley Police said the robbery took place at a shop in Reynolds Way, Abingdon, on Friday, September 27.

Officers said two men, with faces covered and hoods up, entered the shop at 1.20pm and 'threatened the store assistant'.

One of them then clambered over the counter to take the tills.

The thieves then left in a white 'car-derived van' with the partial registration number DE12 ***.

There are several shops in Reynolds Way, which is just off Saxton Road, but police did not specify which one was targeted.

Two people who work in Reynolds Way told the Oxford Mail the robbery was at McColl's, which they said was closing down anyway and has now shut.

The Oxford Mail has been unable to contact the store directly and it is now listed on Google Businesses as 'permanently closed.'

Police did not describe the nature of the threat.

Both men were said to be of average build and were wearing dark-coloured clothing and gloves.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Nicola Clark, based at Abingdon police station, said: "We would ask anyone who saw these men approaching the shop or who has dash-cam footage from around the time of the incident to come forward.

"Anyone with information should report online or call 101 quoting reference 43190299476."
