A NEW retirement home in Abingdon will celebrate the town's link with Prince Albert.
Churchill Living's development of 39 one and two bedroom apartments has been named as Albert Lodge, in reference to the nearby Albert Park and its monument to Queen Victoria's husband, which has stood near the heart of the town since 1865.
Regional marketing manager Caroline Haswell said: “For every new Churchill development we try to choose a name with a strong connection to the local community.
"We’re delighted to announce that our new collection of apartments in Abingdon will be called Albert Lodge, a name which we felt would link well with the town’s longstanding connection to Prince Albert."

She added: "Albert’s many achievements demonstrated how society can benefit from embracing innovation and change, and he was known to approach life with plenty of enthusiasm.
"We hope Albert Lodge will be a place where local people can also do just that, and enjoy their retirement years to the full.”
