UPDATE: Pictures of the rescue after car plunges into River Thames in Abingdon
Emergency services closed St Helen's Wharf in Abingdon at about 8.45am after the car ended up in the water, with the driver still inside.
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The female car driver has been rescued and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

A resident, posting on the Abingdon Facebook page at 9am, said emergency services had closed West St Helen Street (which leads to St Helen's Wharf).
She added that the area should be avoided as a 'car [had] rolled down the slipway into [the] water.'
There is a barrier separating the river from the road, but a tyre mark suggests the car entered the water just to the side of where the barrier begins.
Thames Valley Police has confirmed that the road is now open again, and that the woman was not seriously injured.
A spokesman said: "Thames Valley Police was called at 8.46am to reports of a car entering the river at St Helen's Wharf in Abingdon.
"The sole female driver of this vehicle was safely recovered from the vehicle and has been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, but her injuries are not serious.
"The roads are all re-opened."

A staff member at a nearby business confirmed that the car had been lifted out of the river at about 9.30am.
She added that a breakdown truck has since taken the car away.
Abingdon taxi driver Colin Dobson, who got to the scene before emergency services, said the vehicle involved was a small blue car.
Emergency services are investigating how the vehicle ended up in the water.
In December, a driver and passenger were lucky to escape with their lives after their car veered off a residential road in Abingdon and plummeted into the Thames.

It was the third such incident at the same junction in the space of six months, according to Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
