POLICE say that nobody was stabbed at the Witney Feast fun fair.
It was widely reported on social media that somebody had been knifed, and police say they were called to The Leys after reports of a fear for welfare of a boy – but not a stabbing.
They say somebody could have been assaulted, but no victims came forward.
A spokesperson said: "This was to a fear for welfare to a boy after reports of an assault on another male.
"Following initial enquiries it has been established that this was not a stabbing. We understand that an assault could have taken place but we have not been able identify the victim.
"We are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch on the non-emergency police number 101, quoting 4319028855 or make a report online.
"Thames Valley Police is also aware of a social media post which briefly circulated, this has since been removed and we would like to reassure the public that the details of the post are being investigated, but it has been established this does not appear to be a stabbing."
