KFC wants to open at least nine new outlets in Oxfordshire - most of them drive-thrus.
Among the target areas are Summertown, Didcot, Abingdon and at Sainsbury's in Littlemore.
Most of the branches KFC wants to open are drive-thrus, but a sit-down restaurant in Summertown is also planned.
A spokesman for the company said: "We have bold ambitions to have over 1,000 stores in the UK and Ireland by 2020.
"We are looking to build over 50 new stores a year."

It was understood the chain would offer incentives of £20,000 to people who find a new site in their target areas, as their website states 'We pay £20,000 for all recognised introductions.'
However, a KFC spokesperson has confirmed this is not the case and there will be no financial reward.

- Banbury - Drive Thru
KFC was first introduced to the UK in 1965 with its first branch in Preston, but today it operates 850 outlets in the country.
There are several branches in Oxfordshire.
