A THUG who pinned his pregnant parter to her bed before tipping a bottle of Jack Daniel's into her mouth has been spared jail.

Brendon Taylor shook his head and repeatedly muttered from behind the dock yesterday as prosecutors told the court how he had also 'bitten' his partner during the sustained drunken attack.

The 32-year-old of Cumnor Road, Farmoor, had already admitted one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Oxford Crown Court heard at his sentencing hearing yesterday how the attack in Wolvercote began with a night out on December 23 last year.

While at a nearby pub a fight broke out which eventually led to Taylor being driven away by his eventual victim - his then-partner of some seven years.

Prosecutors said that by this time Taylor - who was drunk - had been 'shouting and screaming' and was taking swigs from a bottle of Jack Daniel's.

While in the car the victim was dowsed with some of the whiskey by Taylor and when she then stopped the car he got out and left.

Eventually she went home and saw Taylor in the living room 'drinking and shouting to himself' and so she went upstairs to bed.

It was after that, prosecutors said, that he launched into his attack.

Lee Harris, prosecuting, said: "She said she could hear him screaming that he wanted our baby gone, he was shouting that he wanted to get an abortion."

Soon after he burst into the bedroom, pinned her to the bed, and said 'you want a f***ing drink, here's a f***ing drink.'

He then 'poured' the Jack Daniel's over her and into her mouth, and she said she could not breathe during the assault.

Taylor also 'bit' his victim during the drunken onslaught.

In mitigation at yesterday's hearing Kellie Enever, defending, said her client did not know at the time that his victim was pregnant.

She added that he had no previous convictions for any other violent offending.

Sentencing, Judge Nigel Daly ordered an 18-month jail term, suspended for 24 months.

As part of the sentence Taylor must complete 10 days rehabilitation activity requirement, alcohol treatment and 180 hours of unpaid work. He must also pay a victim surcharge.
