A NEW bike parking project has been designed to boost North Parade’s attractiveness as a shopping street in North Oxford.
The scheme, unveiled on Friday, involved the removal of three parking slots and their replacement with 13 bike racks.
The work was overseen by the traders and residents of the North Parade Residents and Traders’ Association with the help of city and county councillors.

City councillor Louise Upton contributed £2,000 to the costs of installing the racks from her ward budget, with a further £500 from county councillor Emma Turnbull.
Eighteen donations from members of the local association raised the remaining £5500.
The racks and road signs were completed last month.
Ms Upton said: “Swapping car parking for bike parking in this charming little street makes perfect sense.”
