A ROAD was cordoned off near the Westgate Centre in Oxford this afternoon after reports of a chemical incident.
Old Greyfriars Street was temporarily taped off by emergency services at around 2.45pm, while paramedics assessed patients for any signs of harm.
There have also been reports that authorities attended due to a 'suspicious package', but police have not yet confirmed this.
A fire engine leaving the area
Three ambulance officers and a crew were sent to the scene but South Central Ambulance Service confirmed nobody required hospital treatment.

One man who saw the emergency services arrive said he noticed about four police cars and two fire engines parked in the road, which runs from Speedwell Street to the Westgate.
Two fire engines and an ambulance were seen leaving the area at about 4pm.
The Westgate is open as usual at all entrances and the road has since reopened.
