A series of roadshows starring the authors selected for Richard & Judy's Children's Book Club will visit Oxford on Wednesday.
A group of 60 children from schools in Oxfordshire have been invited to enjoy some time with well-loved authors and illustrators - Jonathan Emmett, Jeremy Strong, Ben Cort and Sally Grindley and Lindsey Gardiner - who will appear at Oxford University Press.
The aim of the roadshows is to inspire children to read. The roadshow events, organised by publishers in conjunction with the Federation of Children's Book Groups, will include readings, a chance for the children to ask the authors questions, and character drawings from the illustrators. The event in Oxford will feature: Jonathan Emmett on his charming new picture book Someone Bigger - Sam has a kite, but his Dad thinks Sam's too small to fly it. It needs someone bigger - or does it?
Jeremy Strong's Pirate School: A Very Fishy Battle. Patagonia Clatterbottom is going to teach the children of Pirate School how to make a proper pirate attack!
Ben Cort, illustrator of Aliens Love Underpants by Claire Freedman. What could be funnier than a book about pants?
Sally Grindley and Lindsey Gardiner's Poppy and The Fashion Show. Poppy and Max see a sign asking for models for a fashion show; Poppy is desperate to volunteer but Max somehow ends up as the star of the show.
