A POLICE officer has been killed while trying to stop a late night burglary.
Thames Valley Police has launched a murder investigation after PC Andrew Harper was killed while on duty Thursday night.
The Abingdon-based police officer was responding to a reported burglary when it happened along the A4 Bath Road between Reading and Newbury.
A forensic tent has been put up behind police tape cordoning off the area close to the cross roads Ufton Lane and Lambdens Hill.
Details of how PC Harper have not yet been revealed by police.
Forensic teams can be scouring the road surface, close to tyre marks, and combing the nearby verges.
