YOU can decide the name of a rowing club's new boat - but a revival of Boaty McBoatface is off the cards.
Vale of White Horse District Council has drawn up a shortlist of titles for a new Abingdon Rowing Club craft it helped fund with a £3,809 capital grant, which also went towards equipment.
The club suggested the name should have some association with the district council as a thank you for its support, but Valey McValeface did not make the cut.

Instead, the six-strong list includes options like Abingdon Unicorn, Helios (a Greek god) and Horse of the Valley - to go alongside existing boats such as Pegasus, Athena and Hermes.
Helen Pighills, Vale of White Horse District Council cabinet member for community services and grants, said: “Grants are a great example of the council supporting local organisations and we are pleased that the club offered us the chance to share the naming with us.
“It would be nice to walk along the river in Abingdon and see the boat named by local residents, so I hope lots of people will vote.”

Nicky Simpson, Abingdon Rowing Club captain, added: “Abingdon Rowing Club is a small local club with members of all ages and levels and we heavily rely on funding such as the support we have received from Vale of White Horse District Council to enable us to develop the club.
"This new boat will help support our growing junior squad who are looking to progress with their rowing careers and this donation will go a long way to help make this happen, the club is sincerely grateful for the help we have received.”
Voting is now open and residents can choose their favourite name until midday on Friday, August 9.
The winner will be announced shortly afterwards. Click here to vote.
