POLICE have now reopened part of Cowley Road after a day of investigations.

The cordon had been in place from Thursday night after a fight broke out in the evening.
The tape had sealed off the local businesses close the junction with Divinity Road including Atif Superstore, The Deli off licence unit, Kani Kebab, Pepe's Piri Piri, Pizza Roma, Toni's the Guy barbers, Exprizza and DesiGrill, Bodrum Kebabes, Cafe Babe, Erdem Food Centre and The Baron.

Owners had said the closure stopped them opening throughout the morning.
But, last night Thames Valley Police had lifted the cordon and took to Twitter to thank businesses and members of the public for their patience.

We can confirm that the cordon on the Cowley Road that has been in place today (19/7) has now been removed.
Thank you to the business owners and the public for their patience while officers carried out their investigation.
The force had been investigating a fight which had broken out at around 7.40pm. At the time, a 57-year-old man with serious head injuries was rushed to hospital, where it has been confirmed he still remains.
A 41-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning GBH. It is believed he is still in police custody.
