A NEW American-style diner in Oxford climbed to the top of TripAdvisor’s restaurants chart for the city within six weeks of opening.
Former Cherwell School pupil Sami Mahfouz, 24, from Jericho opened Glut in George Street, on May 1.
Its distinctive interior, featuring wallpaper with a seven deadly sins theme, and up-to-date menu has attracted lots of customers who have left five-star reviews on the website hosting feedback from diners.

The Plant Burger, featuring a vegan burger patty from Beyond Meat, has been one of most popular dishes on the menu as more people come round to the idea of switching to a meat-free diet.
Mr Mahfouz said: “It’s going very well and we are getting busier by the day.
“We opened on May 1 and then earlier this month we were listed number one out of 480 Oxford restaurants on TripAdvisor - right now we are number two.
“The 84 reviews have been overwhelmingly positive - we have had plenty of five star reviews so customers must like what we are doing.
“The Plant Burger is very popular - and it’s on the menu at a time when the vegetarian and vegan market is really taking off.”
Mr Mahfouz said the vegan burger features a product made from pea protein and soya which resembles meat.
“Vegan bloggers have come in and tried it and written positive reviews,” he added.
The restaurateur added that the Oreo filled pancakes were also a favourite dessert for diners.
Glut has a five-star rating on TripAdvisor with 81 out of 84 customers posting ‘excellent’ reviews.

Gurvir G posted a five-star review, saying: “Fantastic food here, I was particularly pleased with the plant burger. The staff here were very friendly and our waiter Ram was very attentive. It’s not always the easiest to find good vegetarian food but I’m glad there’s a new place for me in town.”
Burgerballs123 also gave five stars, adding: “Burgers are second to none! The service was impeccable and the Oreo pancake desert was to die for. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Oxford as you won’t find better anywhere in the county of Oxfordshire!”
