BURGLARS tried and failed to steal an ATM from an Abingdon supermarket.
Budgens in Peachcroft Road, Abingdon, was closed this morning following a break-in overnight.
Thames Valley Police said the attempt took place between 3.35am and 3.40am.
The force said would-be thieves were seen getting out of a white Mercedes estate car and attempting to access the ATM.

The attempt was unsuccessful, however, and nothing was stolen.

A staff member told the Oxford Mail the store had been closed this morning but opened late and is now running as normal.
He was unable to give any further information about what had happened.
Just last month a Co-Op branch in Didcot was left with a gaping hole in its wall after thieves ripped the ATM from the wall.

Police have not confirmed if the latest attempt is thought to be linked to any of the other recent ATM thefts.
