A NEW Sainsbury's in Oxford will be allowed to sell alcohol after the city council accepted a plan.
The supermarket giant plans to open a new store at the Royal Oxford Hotel in Park End Street. The unit also looks onto Frideswide Square.
The council granted permission for the supermarket to sell booze from 7am until 11pm every day. Alcohol sales had been allowed at the Royal Oxford Hotel when it was operated by former businesses, including Cafe CoCo and Smolensky's.
The council's licensing and gambling acts casework sub-committee gave Sainsbury's the go-ahead on Monday.
