It is great news to hear 10 Oxfordshire schools have been praised by Ofsted inspectors for providing an outstanding level of education to their children.

For some on the list this is not the first time they have risen to the top. But perhaps the greater achievement is that of those which had previously been struggling.

Through hard work and dedication, staff, students, governors and parents have managed to turn around these schools' fortunes.

This has typically been as a result of inspired leadership from committed headteachers who have both the determination and desire to improve their schools so that all pupils can achieve their full potential. This is certainly the case at St Thomas More Primary School in Kidlington, where parents cannot speak highly enough of headteacher Claire Robinson.

The Ofsted inspections take into account all aspects of the schools' activities, so for 10 schools and nurseries to be deemed to be outstanding is a credit to the rising standards in the county.

We congratulate all 10 and encourage them to build on their successes.
