Pop band Teleman, electro-rockers The Comet Is Coming, rising star Self Esteem and Oxford pop-punks Young Knives are among the big names revealed today for this year’s Ritual Union Festival.
The festival, which takes place in indoor venues along Oxford’s Cowley Road, is among the highlights of the city’s musical calendar.
Taking place on October 19, the third instalment of the popular event features scores of bands covering a range of genres – with a good representation of local talent – such as rising stars Premium Leisure, Pet Sematary, The Cooling Pearls and TMA.
Other acts announced today include Pigs x7, Afro-funk act Ibibio Sound Machine, Washington’s Chastity Belt, Bristol post-punk outfit Heavy Lungs, Twin Peaks, Flamingods, Trudy & The Romance, Working Mens Club, Scalping, Porridge Radio, Olden Yolk, Pregoblin, Bess Attwell, Egyptian Blue, Katy J Pearson, Far Caspian, Lazarus Kane and The Soft Cavalry – the new project from husband-wife duo Steve Clarke and Rachel Goswell of Slowdive.

Shows take place at the O2 Academy, The Truck Store, The Library and The Bullingdon.
The bands follow illustrious predecessors including Peace, Black Honey and Oxford’s very own Low Island. in 2017, and Gaz Coombes, Ghostpoet and Nadine Shah last year.
Promoter Simon Bailey of Crosstown Concerts, said: “After the resounding success of the 2018 edition of Ritual Union, I’m delighted we’re finally able to announce the first round of acts for this year’s event.

“After months of work, I feel this year’s line-up is the best yet. With the usual mix of great artists who have done well in Oxford over the last year, some bands we’ve never had the opportunity to work with before and a whole host of up and coming, talent we’re all set for another great day out in all of our favourite Oxford venues.”
Henry Dartnall of Young Knives said: “We are really pleased to have been asked to play Ritual Union. This is exactly the kind of event we love playing and the line up looks incredible.”
