CREWS were scrambled in the early hours to a huge mound of wood chippings and tyres which had been engulfed in flames.
The fire tore through the scrapheap at about 1am with thick smoke billowing into the night sky.
Firefighters from Bicester, Buckingham, and a water carrier from Wheatley were all called to the scene in Marsh Gibbon, near Bicester, and spent four hours extinguishing and making the area safe.

The large fire took hold of the chippings and crews scrambled to source water from 300m away to help extinguish the flames.
The landowner also helped by using a small digger to move the woodchips and stopping it spread further.
