A WANTAGE man inspired to become a painter by Otmoor's scenery will see his work on the area exhibited.
Oddington's William North is the subject of a solo exhibition at Wantage's Vale and Downland Museum between June 24 and July 13.
The 69-year-old explained: “This view from the centre of Otmoor (above) is somewhere I spend a lot of time and an area I love.
“It is away from everywhere and feels so remote and ethereal. The air is full of the wild sounds of curlew and snipe. Flooded hollows reflect the sky that seems to go on for ever in this flat fenland. This area is what first inspired me to want to paint and I still find it just as exciting after 40 years.”
The Upper Gallery exhibition, organised by Creative Coverage, includes a 'meet the artist' event from 11am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 3.30pm on July 25.
Mr North, a self-taught artist working mainly in watercolour, had another Otmoor painting accepted by The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at the Mall Galleries in 2012.

Mr North added: "I find this medium ideal for depicting the flat and moody landscape around where I live.
"We have large expanses of skies that are reflected in the streams and regular flood water. I especially enjoy painting the sky and creating the feel of wind and weather."
