THE SMELL of vinegar-soaked chips alongside a greased-up battered cod almost oozes from this photograph of one of Botley's old fish and chip shops.
The picture itself is enough to make anyone hungry but delves back into the world of the chippies in May 1969.
Seacourt Fisheries was located in the West Way Shopping Precinct in Botley - now under major redevelopment.
The pictures shows a different era in which people would eat in to sit and enjoy a cup of tea alongside their fish and chips, while a big team of staff took the orders and manned the fryers.
The most recent fish and chip shop which closed its doors at the Botley precinct was the family-run West Way Chippy which shut in April 2018.
