BARTON Park has been crowned the best housing development in Oxfordshire.

The estate was one of eight in the county to be given the title of ‘one of the best’ at the Oxfordshire Property Festival, (Ox Prop Fest).

Winners were announced at a glitzy black-tie event in the grounds of Keble College, last week.

Dozens of bosses and key players from the property scene went along to the affair, and during the night used their mobiles to vote for ‘property leader of the year’ which was awarded to Jane Norris from Edgars.

The other categories were pre-chosen ahead of the night by a panel of judges.

They were chosen after a launch event kicked-off the nomination process in Janurary.

On the panel of judges choosing the winners and runners-up included Matthew Battle, director of UK Property Forums which worked alongside Oxford Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) to put on the Ox prop fest for the second year running.

Last year, hundreds of people took part in the county's first major property and development festival. The 2018 event centred around two of Oxford's famous hotspots – the Bodleian Library and the Corpus Christi College – featuring walks, discussions, debates, awards and music.

This year's festival adopted a similar format – the awards were held at another university College, but this time at the bigger venue of Keble to host the large numbers who attended.

Mr Battle, who also organised the event, said: “It was an amazing evening, celebrating an amazing county. It was a privilege to be involved with so many of the key players in the Oxfordshire property scene and their support was the basis for a very successful day."

Categories for this year’s awards include; the Best Property Consultant/Agent/Estate Agent, Best Use of Land and an award for overall Project of the Year.

Here are the winners:

• Best housing development: Barton Park

• Cool and funky space award: Neilsen at Oxford Business Park (developed by Arlington)

• Best agent: Edgars

• Best Law Firm: Blake Morgan

• Best use of land: The Broadway in Didcot (376 estates)

• Business park manager of the year: Donna Bowles who is the estate manager at Howbery Park

• Project of the year: The Beecroft Building at the University of Oxford

• Futures award: joint winners: Nancy Apperley the marketing manager at Milton Park and Tom Vecchione the surveyor at Carter Jonas.
