DESPITE the potentially devastating consequences it is still fairly common to see motorists on their phones or otherwise distracted at the wheel.
The problem has seen Thames Valley Police turn to technology to help them crack down on drivers using mobiles while on the county's roads.

We sent an Oxford Mail photographer to Botley Road last month to see how many motorists were ignoring the law.
As well as plenty of drivers on their phones, there were also people drinking, unwrapping gum and adjusting their Sat Navs.
