A GROUP of Extinction Rebellion marchers were given a lively send-off from Folly Bridge this morning.
The environmental activists are walking from Stroud to London, for the beginning of the group's 'action weeks', from April 15.

Members of the international group – perhaps best known in Oxford for blocking traffic on Botley Road – arrived in Oxford on the fifth leg of their march to London yesterday and met the sheriff, councillor Craig Simmons.
He said the marchers were 'absolutely amazing and inspirational'.
Then, this morning, the marchers were given a colourful, musical and flag-waving send off from the Abingdon Road bridge, as they continued on a marathon route to the capital.

Ginnie Herbert, a local march organiser, said: “Extinction Rebellion Oxford welcomed the Stroud walkers at the Botley Park and Ride site.
"Local campaigners marched together with our visitors from Stroud into central Oxford. Supporters of their efforts joined the event with flags, whistles and placards.”
The action weeks, from April 15 - 26, are part of 'international protests about the climate emergency.
Oxford City Council declared its recognition of a Climate Emergency on 28th January, while Oxfordshire County Council acknowledged that there is a Climate Emergency at its meeting on 2nd April.

Marchers are continuing on their way to Abingdon, on foot, bicycle or boat, before walking to Wallingford.
Tomorrow they are marching on to Henley.
Ms Herbert continued: “It’s time to rebel, it’s time for urgent action now. Come and join us on this march to the international rebellion”
