The UK might not have left the European Union as originally planned last week, but Oxford City Council showed its defiance to Brexit by flying the EU flag on the day as it had promised to do.
But not everyone felt the same. This Botley Road resident declared 'Independence Day' with this display of pro-Leave paraphernalia.
But what did our readers think? It was a mixed bag of opinion as you might expect, with some praising Oxford City Council for flying the EU flag.
Others, however, think the council should apologise. Here's one of the letters we received on the matter.
Take down the EU flag
ON THE day that we expected to leave the European Union, Oxford City Council decides to raise the EU flag over the Town Hall.
This demonstration by the City Council is just as bad as the recent display of swastika signs sprayed on a school wall which was immediately washed away on council orders.
I trust action will be taken to take down the flag and that the City Council will apologise to people who voted ‘leave’.
