A MAN escaped after being threatened with a knife in an attempted robbery in Oxford.

The incident took place at 2pm on Saturday on the Thames Path, when the victim was walking from Port Meadow towards Botley Road.

The 31-year-old was approached by two men, who threatened him and demanded he hand over his phone.

But he escaped unharmed and ran off in the direction of Botley Road.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the attempted robbery and have released descriptions of the two attackers.

The first offender is described as white, around 5ft 9ins tall, aged between 20 and 25-years-old with a thin, long face.

He was wearing a dark hooded jacket with a hood drawn tight around his face and blue jeans.

The second offender is described as Asian, around 5ft 5ins tall, aged between 20 and 25-years-old, with a stocky build and medium length dark hair. He was wearing a dark puffer jacket.

Investigating officer, PC Elizabeth Leach, based at Oxford police station said: “This is a concerning incident and it is fortunate that no one was injured.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information that could help with this investigation to come forward.

"The offenders were unusually dressed for a warm sunny day and I believe someone may have noticed this."
