The battle of the kebab could get even hotter as another award-winning shop is set to come to Oxford this year.
Awarded Best Newcomer at the British Kebab Awards on Monday, kebab shop Doner and Gyros, is planning to open in the city.
The shop, owned by 27-year-old Numan Choudhury, was set up in Aylesbury and has just opened its second shop in Canary Wharf, London.
Ahmed's Bar B-Q on Oxford High Street won Best Kebab Van at the ceremony.
Mr Choudhury, from Thame, said the food he serves is healthier than the usual kebab shop with lean meat sourced from Germany.
The shop sells a specific type of kebab including ‘Berlin Kebabs’ and ‘Chicago Gyros’.
He belives people in Oxford will enjoy his food. He said: "Once we have settled into our new shop in London, we hope to open a shop in Oxford. It's just finding the suitable location for it but it could be on the Cowley Road.
"We will bring something unique to the city by serving healthy kebabs made from lean beef instead of lamb doner all the while keeping the taste."
Doner and Gyros is part of a global group and Mr Chouman and his team holds the rights to the franchise here in the UK.
They are also looking to expand through franchises and are looking for people interested.
Would you give Doner and Gyros a try?
