LUCIANO Dos Santos Almeida, the man who was stabbed on Southfield Road, Oxford, earlier this month, died from systemic complications due to stab wounds, the coroner has said.

Mr Almeida, from Southampton, was 22 years old when he died at the John Radcliffe Hospital at 5.09pm on March 6, 2019.

The coroner said at the inquest opening today that no inquest date has been set as a criminal investigation is still ongoing.

Mr Almeida was stabbed on February 27 and four men have since been charged with his murder.

Michael Yemane, 20, of South Bridge Row, Oxford, Welid Solomon, 25, of Field Avenue, Oxford, Sasan Mohammed Khalid, 19, of no fixed abode, and Safeen Abdullah Karimi, 27, of Hode Garth, Thame appeared in court on March 11.

They did not apply for bail and were all remanded in custody.

The four are due to next appear for a plea hearing and trial preparation on Friday, April 5 and a provisional date for any trial has been set for Monday, September, 2 which the court expects could last between four and six weeks.

Mr Almeida's mother, Carla Dos Santos, recently released a tribute for her son saying he was her 'beautiful baby boy'.

She said: “Twenty two years ago the Lord blessed me with the most beautiful gift I could ever have wished for, my beautiful baby boy, my first love Luciano was born. Words can’t describe the feeling of losing a child."
