A LOCAL pub has caused a stir on Twitter after hanging up a sign of a smoking fat cartoon horse.
The White Horse in Headington reopened only last week to reveal its new revamp which saw swish new bar tiles, an improved drinks range and outdoor lights.
Managers and the Lord Mayor Colin Cook raised a glass to the The White Horse reopening last week after a swish new revamp.
But now, punters and 'neigh'-bours have slated the boozer for its ‘completely grotesque’ sign hanging on London Road, despite the Hungry Horse chain pumping six-figures into the makeover.
We used to have a sensible white carthorse on the pub sign at the White Horse in Headington, but now we have a roué hungry horse (hungry? with that fat belly?) smoking a pipe pic.twitter.com/guRcOsiTme

One resident added to the thread of Tweets by saying: “I can’t see how a pot-bellied bubble-blowing horse with the limb-joined of a biped and trampled tail would attract any customers to the hungry horse chain.”
Others cashed in urging the chain to bin it.
@greeneking This new pub sign which you have placed recently on the White Horse in Headington Oxford is grotesque and unartistic. What was your designer thinking of? Please remove it.

The local councillor Roz Smith added that it was ‘awful’.
Greene King replied to the thread explaining the feedback would be passed on.
