AN OXFORD pub has reopened with new tiles and outdoor lights after a swish six-figure revamp.
The White Horse in Headington closed its doors to punters for two weeks at the end of February for a ‘massive makeover’ – and yesterday managers at the Hungry Horse branch raised a couple of glasses with the Lord Mayor, Colin Cook , to celebrate the reopening.
The boozer now has a sleek new sports area with more seats, more TVs and better sound systems.
The new multi-screen bar, which is kitted out with Sky Sports for locals to watch the matches, is also welcoming some fresh new tiling, and extra ale pumps to add to the promised ‘bigger’ selection of cheap drinks.

Peter Soulsby-Lee, co-general manager at the London Road pub said: “We’ve had a fantastic time celebrating the reopening and our Oxford neighbours really came out to support us.
“Our guests are at the heart of what we do, so it was great to be able to mark the reopening with the local community’’.
Ian Soulsby-Lee, the co-general manager added: “It was a pleasure to welcome the lord mayor of Oxford, councillor Colin Cook, to enjoy the new offering, too – they really helped to kick off the festivities.
“We’ve already had great feedback on the revamped bar and the sports viewing areas, with many guests planning their next visit around the upcoming matches.”
Managers explained that the bargain bottles offer is still on and food is still being served.
The pub now has new opening times, starting the day at 9am for breakfasts and has planned a series of live music events and disco nights over the next couple of days.
