DRIVERS have been stuck in heavy traffc on part of the Oxford ring road this week due to the resurfacing of the Garsington flyover in Cowley.
There will be two weeks worth of work.
Here's what you need to know about the roadworks this week:
- Lanes are closed from 5am to 8pm on the A4142 Eastern Bypass between Littlemore Roundabout and Horspath Road
- A temporary 30mph speed limit is in place
- The flyover is completely closed from 8pm to 5am
- Resurfacing of the flyover is expected to end this Friday
- Lanes will re-open on Saturday
No roadworks will take place next week (Monday, March 18 - Sunday, March 24)
Here's what you need to know about the next phase of roadworks:
- Work will start again on Monday, March 25 which will involve the replacement of the flyover's expansion joints
- Traffic management will be in place so delays are expected
- This work is expected to end on March 31

What does Oxfordshire County Council say?
- Drivers should use alternative routes and drive the opposite way round the Oxford ring road
- Councillor Yvonne Constance, cabinet member for environment, said: "The short-term pain will be worth the long-term gain."
