A PRIMARY school could double its pupil population if expansion plans go ahead.
Oxfordshire County Council is consulting on a proposal to increase the capacity of St Blaise CE Primary School in Milton, from 105 to 210.
In 2017 the school started admitting 15 pupils per yer instead of its previous annual intake of 10.
Now the council wants to double this so it would take in 30 pupils in each new reception year, and would build four new classrooms plus extensions of other facilities to accommodate the extra children.
Documents on the council's website state: "Planning permission has been granted for over 500 new homes in St Blaise catchment area since 2012.
"Current pupil forecasts indicate that St Blaise Primary School will exceed its current capacity of 105 places by 2020, with intakes continuing to grow rapidly beyond that date.
"Expansion of school capacity is needed to meet the forecast demands of the growing population in the area."
Consultation on the expansion ends on March 25 and anyone who wants to comment can visit consultations.oxfordshire.gov.uk.
