A CAR was left on its roof after coming off the road and hitting a tree in wet conditions this afternoon. 

A man in his 20s is in hospital with potentially serious injuries after the crash.

Steeple Aston, near Bicester, was cut off for more than two hours with buses unable to access the village due to the incident on the B4030.

Emergency services attended the crash near the crossroads between Lower Heyford and Steeple Aston.

Paramedics stabilised the driver while he was still in the car and fire crews made the vehicle safe and removed the door in order to free him.

The cause of the accident is being investigated but the fire service is reminding drivers to be careful, given the current variable weather conditions.

A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 12.37pm to a road traffic incident involving one vehicle which had overturned and hit a tree.

"We sent to the scene an ambulance officer, a ambulance crew and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance's critical care unit.

"All our crews treated a male in his 20s for potentially serious injuries. 

"He was assessed at the scene then taken by land ambulance to the John Radcliffe hospital."
