A MAN was rescued from an Abingdon river and taken to hospital in a 'potentially life-threatening' state.
Emergency services were scrambled to St Helen's Court on Monday after receiving reports that a man needed help in the River Ock.
A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said ambulances were sent to St Helen's Court at 4.23pm on Monday 'to reports of a patient in the water.'
She said: "We had on scene a community responder, ambulance crew, ambulance officer, rapid response vehicle and critical care unit assessing and treating one male patient, who was in a potentially life-threatening condition.
"He was treated at the scene by all our crews and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital."

Details of how the man got into the water and his current condition are not yet known - police have been asked for further information.
Several neighbours had posted on the 'Abingdon' Facebook page reporting a large presence of police and ambulance personnel, with one stating she had seen '7-10' emergency vehicles pass by.
Another said the River Ock footpath had been cordoned off as emergency services dealt with the incident.
