A MEN’S rights group has hit out at plans to cut vasectomies on the NHS in Oxfordshire – because 'men pay more tax than women'.
Oxford Men’s Rights Action group say the move is discriminatory, arguing that men do more to fund the NHS and so should not be denied the contraceptive procedure.
Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) suspended vasectomies for new patients in a cost cutting drive last year but is now considering stopping the procedure all together.
In a post on Facebook the group say: “The NHS is funded mainly from general taxation and National Insurance, the vast majority paid by men.

“In 2014/15, men as a group paid £75.5 million more in income tax than women.
“Women disproportionately benefit from being employed by the NHS, with 77 per cent of all NHS employees being women.
“Despite this, one of the few contraceptive options available to men is likely to be permanently scrapped by the NHS.”
