PLANNING REFERENCE: 19/00492/FUL

WHERE: Oxford Quaker Meeting House, St. Giles, Oxford

Oxford Mail:

IN BRIEF: The Quaker Meeting House wishes to demolish its existing but dilapidated garden room and replace it with a larger single storey rear extension to accommodate growing numbers at the meetings.

The present garden room dates from 1982 and detracts considerably from both buildings’ appearance, according to the application.

PLANNING REFERENCE:19/00524/SF56

WHERE: 192 Abingdon Road, Oxford

Oxford Mail:

IN BRIEF: Owners of the Akiport Convenience Store have applied to Oxford City Council to allow them to start serving hot food at the premises.

The application seeks to be able to change the use of the building from a shop to a café/restaurant.

According to the owners the change would not have any impact on neighbours.

PLANNING REFERENCE: 19/00508/CT3

WHERE: 2-32 Green Road

Oxford Mail:

IN BRIEF: Oxford City Council have applied to demolish a row of garages to provide a communal garden for a nearby resident block.

The council say the new open space located near to the Headington roundabout will include eco sheds and new seating, bringing ‘new life’ to the communal area.

PLANNING REFERENCE: 19/00465/LBC

WHERE: Pembroke College, St Aldate’s, Oxford

Oxford Mail:

IN BRIEF: Pembroke College which dates back to 1624 has put in an application to upgrade its electricity supply.

Because the building is listed approval must be sought for the works.

With the supply as it is at the moment, the college is unable to isolate some areas without shutting down the supply to other buildings, and therefore a power cut to one area, planned or not, would potentially cut-off a large portion of the college.

PLANNING REFERENCE: 19/00462/FUL

WHERE: Land at Hill Top Road, Oxford

Oxford Mail:

IN BRIEF: A developer wants to build three new family homes on unused scrubland on the edge of Headington.

The development would include a terrace of four-bed homes transforming the strip of unkept land near to Oxford Golf Club, according to developer Rectory Homes Ltd.

PLANNING REFERENCE: 19/00437/FUL

WHERE: 32-33 St Giles, Oxford

Oxford Mail:

IN BRIEF: A religious order in Oxford wish to renovate the Grade-II Listed buildings to create more admin space, tutorial rooms and meeting venues.

Blackfriars, which also serves as a college, says its existing facilities in the city are being placed under pressure and so the extra space is needed.

The application is to change the use of the building from a bank to general use.

Works will also include new windows, replacement doors at the main entrance and new signage.

PLANNING REFERENCE: 19/00181/FUL

WHERE: Car Park to the rear of Tesco (Oxford Retail Park)

Oxford Mail:

IN BRIEF: Lightning Motorcycle Training is hoping to relocate to the derelict car park behind Tesco and has applied for a change of use of the land.

The motorbike firm, which in the application states it is ‘being effectively forced to move from Oxford Stadium by the landlord’, to make way for a housing development.

Lightning Motorcycle Training also wants to install three portacabins on the disused site.
