DRIVERS will need to plan their journeys carefully as several areas of Oxford get set for roadworks in the next two weeks.

Some major routes will be affected, including the Garsington flyover on the Oxford ring road, which will be closed for three weeks in March.

Here are some of the works starting in the coming days, according to roadworks.org:

  • Where: West Way
  • When: February 28-March 4 
  • What's happening: One lane near the new West Way development in West Oxford will be closed for pipe repairs by Thames Water. 

Oxford Mail:

  •  Where: Woodstock Road
  • When: March 4-22
  • What's happening: One lane will be closed on Woodstock Road near St Edward's School, for patching and resurfacing works.

  • Where: Woodstock Road
  • When: March 11-29
  • What's happening: Two-way traffic lights will be in operation near Blandford Avenue for pedestrian crossing refurbishments. 

Oxford Mail:

  • Where: Eastern Bypass
  • When: March 4-8
  • What's happening: BT will be working in various locations on the Eastern Bypass south of Risinghurst to locate and excavate blockages in existing ducts. A lane closure is expected to be in place during the week.

  • Where: Cowley Road
  • When: March 11-29
  • What's happening: Structural patching work will take place on various locations along Cowley Road between Jeune Street and Manzil Way. Multi-way traffic lights will be in operation.

Oxford Mail:

Where: A40 Sunderland Avenue

  • When: February 28-March 6
  • What's happening: Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks will be working on Sunderland Avenue, which runs parallel to a section of the A40.
