IF you’ve wondered what the new Barton Park development looks like but haven't ventured down there yet, we've taken a quick look for you.

Our photographer took a walking tour and a video of the site providing a quick glimpse from the inside.

The first residents moved on to the 885-home estate which lies to the north east of Oxford and close to the A40, last July. 

This month the first council tenants were handed their keys, see the link below for a look inside the houses.

Barton Park - in numbers 

  • The development will consist of 885 homes
  • 40 per cent will be owned by the city council’s housing company, Oxford City Housing Limited
  • There will be a mix detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, as well as apartments.
  • The cheapest two-bedroom flat in Bexley House, on the edge of Barton Park, will set buyers back £377,500.
  • The full development stretches across 90 acres of land.
  • A number of facilities will be included such as a primary school, a food store, a community hub and new sports facilities including a new sports pavilion, sports pitches, and a 3G sports pitch.
  • Work is expected to be complete by 2023

There has however been some concern over the house prices on the devleopment with some homes costing well in excess of half a million pounds.

The scheme, which is a joint venture between, Grosvenor and Oxford City Council and housebuilder Hill, is not expected to be finished until 2023.

We sent our photographer down to the development to see how building work is progressing and to catch a glimpse of the site as stands today.
