A FLYOVER on the Oxford ring road is set to be closed for roadworks during the coming weeks.

Diversions will be in a place and the speed limit lowered from 50mph to 30mph while resurfacing and maintenance work takes place on the eastern bypass road at the Garsington flyover.

Throughout the entire period the speed limit on the road will be 30mph, when traffic signs indicate.

The council said the work is necessary to fix the surface of the road and repair the flyover structure.

Traffic will be diverted down the slip roads and onto the Garsington roundabout while the closures are in place.

Oxford Mail:

Last year a pothole and icy conditions were blamed for a lorry crashing seven metres off the side of the flyover.

The road was closed for several days on that occasion for emergency repairs.
