A PLAN that will see Bicester's population double in size will get more Government funding.
Another £770,000 will be spent building 13,000 homes in Bicester, while a project for a garden village in West Oxfordshire will get another £150,000.
In total the Government hopes work will lead to another 15,200 homes being built in the county.
Previously, the projects have received £2.479m in Government funding.
Work in Bicester is already underway on about 1,500 new properties.
Housing minister Kit Malthouse, who visited Bicester last year, said: “We have not built enough homes in this country for the last three decades, and we are turning that around as we work towards our target to build 300,000 properties a year by the mid-2020s.
“This funding boost is the next step on the road to delivering 15,200 properties in Oxfordshire.”
The funding will be provided by Homes England, an agency within the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
The Government hopes work in new garden communities will lead to 200,000 new homes across England by 2050.
The Government has already said it wants one million new homes to be built in the Oxford-Cambridge corridor by 2050 to ensure the region builds on its potential.
