A MAJOR refurbishment of an Abingdon retail park, including plans for a new Aldi supermarket, will start this year.
Work on Fairacres Retail Park, off Marcham Road, is set to begin on September 30, with the redevelopment expected to be complete by July 6, 2020.

The dates were revealed in documents submitted on behalf of owner Mays Properties Ltd to White Horse District Council as part of the conditions of its planning application, approved in 2016.
It will include knocking down four units, including Vineys, AHF and Topps Tiles, to create a new terrace of five retail units, one which will house Aldi.
Originally a Marks and Spencer Foodhall was planned but this was scrapped in December 2017, with the idea deemed 'commercially unviable'.

It marks the second phase of redevelopment at the site, following work done in 2009 which included re-cladding and the building of a new unit.
