COUNCILLOR Craig Simmons is Oxford's new Lord Mayor elect.
It was announced that Mr Simmons, who leads the Green party group, would take over the role from Colin Cook on May 13 at a council meeting last night.
Mr Simmons, the current Sheriff of Oxford, said: βIt is a great honour to be selected to be the next Lord Mayor of Oxford. In the lead up to the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day in April 2020, I intend to make climate change a key focus of my year in office.β
The St Mary's representative has been on the city and county councils for more than 20 years. He works in East Oxford for a sustainability consultancy.
