TWO people died following a crash between two cars on the B4445 in Thame on Saturday morning.

Two other adults have been taken to hospital after being seriously hurt, while a boy suffered minor injuries.

A man in his 20s from Thame and a woman in her 50s from Malvern died. 

A black Mini and a white VW Golf were involved in the smash, at about 9.20am, and police closed the road.

The man from Thame was driving the Mini and the woman from Malvern was a passenger in the VW. 

Police did not specify who was driving the VW, but everyone else hurt was in that car.

Next of kin have been informed and police say they are offering support to the families.

Police want to speak to anyone who was in the area of the Chinnor Road at the time.

The incident took place on the rural stretch between the roundabout on the edge of Thame town centre and the turn-off for Towersey on the Chinnor Road.

The road has a national speed limit of 60 mph.

The crash happened between B4012 Howland Road (Thame) and Chinnor Road (Towersey).

Inspector Simon Hills of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit based at Bicester, said: “This was a collision that has sadly resulted in the deaths of two people and serious injuries to two others. Our thoughts are with their families at this very difficult time.

“Our officers continue to support them.

“We are carrying out an investigation and are asking any members of the public who witnessed this collision to please come forward to assist us in our enquiries.

“Anyone with dash-cam footage or anyone who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the collision are also asked to contact us."
